“RESERVATION FOR FOUR”, SANTORINI (print #113)
This restaurant was on the rim or caldera of Santorini Island, Greece. The rim is the remains of a volcanic eruption many centuries ago. The remains of the volcano is offshore on the island in the background. It is still active with just a few puffs of smoke no and then, but it will not erupt as it did before. The views are well known around the world and the water is as they say really “Cobalt Blue.” This scene was painted just as I remember with the open umbrellas, pots of geraniums, and billowy white clouds after the summer rains. It is so named because of four chairs with an invitation to sit awhile and wouldn’t be wonderful to have this print on a wall, where the viewer could see on a daily basis, rain or shine..
