There is a lone windmill on Santorini, in a small village known as Oia, (pronounced eeah), and it may be the firstyou see by land or by sea perched high upon the cliffs of Santorini. Most of vegetation is natural and fed only byrain. Homes, hotels, cafes, and traditional houses. today, all reside together along the cliffs of Santorini. The cliffs are also known as the rim or“caldera”, much like the sides of a large pot. The island of Santorini and thesurrounding islands are volcanic, formed centuries ago by a major volcanic eruption just off the shore of Santorini.The explosive force caused the caldera (rim) to form more than 300 feet above, the Aegean Sea. The volcano was actually responsible for a wonderful way of life that brings many visitors to the island. The waters around the islands are varying hues of cobalt blue and crystal clear. Many who come to Santorini are fortunate to find a“traditional” place to stay. Traditional Houses are carved into, or out of, the volcanic rock. Many are seen here in“Dwellings,” with round roofs or other intricate doorways, and patios. Many have stairs leading to the roof of another

I have my favorites on and this may be one. “At Oia, Santorini” speaks to me in a quiet way with peaceful and serene thoughts. Oia, (said “eeah”) is a small village at the end of Santorini Island and is known the world over for the beauty of its “sunsets. I am sure it has something to do with the position the Island holds in the Aegean Sea and on Earth, and most importantly, because God created this wonderful island. Visiting Santorini requires some viewing of the cliff dwellings and to accomplish this, you need to have a good pair of walking shoes. I’m a self-taught fine art oil painter, and I think all of us have gifts, just different ones. I love and like painting of us have gifts, just different ones. I love and like “painting” because paintings and prints can be viewed for as long as they are shown, through time. When I am in heaven, someone here can still can enjoy what I have painted.

All Originals are viewed and sold showing you extra images at BaywoodGallery.com (copy/past or type). “Santorini Sun” is a a small group of houses on the cliffs of Santorini Island, a Greek Island of the Cyclades Group in the Aegean Sea. This is a view above the cliffs, also known as the Caldera, about 300 ft up from the Aegean. I love to paint perspective and especially architecture. The Caldera is the rim where you see all the white houses, hotels, restaurants, and some traditional houses molded from the volcanic walls of the Caldera. The umbrellas and signature Bougainvilleas are as I saw them there and will forever remember them.
