This painting was inspired by a man called “Sandals” whose small boat was used by him to go from his homemade boat on the bay to the shore. It was adrift as seen here but each day when the tide went out it would fall stranded on the mud flats. He was a lonely man with a kind heart, but sadly he died before I could paint “In the Morning Mist print #601.
